Darkness to Light
Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006I just got back from SC where I was at the Darkness to Light Gala where I presented the Voice of Courage award to Amy Berg who directed “DELIVER US FROM EVIL,” the documentary that you must see!

I got to meet up with some of you there! One of my favorite people, Brenda, who I have spoken to for years now and who continues to amaze me with her strength, drove up to Charleston to see me.

She introduced me to another amazing young warrior who friends of mine already want to adopt to help get her away from her hellish familiy. Oh, the generations of denial make me want to climb the walls sometimes. These women’s stories, commitment and determination make me continue to do what I do. Not to mention, Jessieh pushes a mean wheelchair. Ha! You never know what’s going to happen when you come to meet Angela Shelton.

I got to meet MTV Chi’s Greg Woo too. He is fabulous and oh so adorable. (no, not like that, I have a boyfriend. Oh, did I mention that I have a boyfriend now, OMG, I have a boyfriend… pinch pinch pinch) Greg and I had a hoot acting like nutjobs during the auction to get people laughing and bidding higher. It worked. They raised more than last year. Thank God. Darkness to Light is really the real deal and I 100% approve of them and you should have everyone in your community who works with kids take the Stewards training!

Check out our foot braces. Both of us had broken feet. Funny! That did not stop the fundraising!
I’ve been a bit unfocused on the blog lately because the infamous Survivor Manual is almost ready and I’ve been working on that as well as finishing a few other writing projects.
And yes, my foot is healing. I’m hobbling, not using my crutches, but I am practicing dancing on one foot.
