The Assault on Reason

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

reading Al Gore’s new book at the moment btw.  HMS.  HMS.

More videos coming, searching for tapes, organizing office, hearing story after story…  There are so many things to say about all this, so many people out there to help, so many dirty white men up there causing trouble, so many people with blinders on, and so many waking up and it is happening fast, there is a shift happening.  So much to share… hold on to your reins!

Here’s a page that helps explain different ways to get me to you btw.  It is best to have it be a community event and connect all of the surrounding orgs.  Too many of them are fighting for the same money and not having time to focus on the mission - I like to connect them and help everyone help each other. It’s fun.

I’ve heard loads of stories about people wearing t-shirts or having a sticker on their car and being connected to another amazing helper/warrior/angel through that avenue.  It begins a conversation and the conversation is what begins to change your life.  Sometimes it’s just a knowing nod and other times life-long friendships are formed.  It is amazing to witness and be a part of. I am so eternally in awe and grateful for this wild journey that Searching for Angela Shelton sent me on.  I encourage you to go on it yourself, there is a reason  you are here, you are so tremendously valuable and precious - begin to believe that because it’s true. I can’t do it for you but I can show you how I woke up and continue to on different levels.  My goal is to inspire and empower you to heal and break the cycle because you can.  If I did it, so can you.

You are looking in the mirror and this girl used to self mutilate and you inspired her not to:

Thank you.  You are the reason I do what I do, because you inspired me.

Oh just you wait, there is much more to tell.  Busy building new pathways and gathering the information and connections.  In the meantime, hold on to yourself.

I just checked out The Safe House in Ann Arbor after I spoke at the library and wow, are they doing a good job.  I love seeing that these awesome outlets, away from violence, exist.

Non-epileptic Seizures?

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

I have heard so many stories where trauma = health problems.

I have also heard of “bizarre” occurances like having seizures.  There is now an organization dedicated to bringing awareness and change about this subject.

Please visit their web site at www.non-epilepticseizures.com and their blog at http://nonepilepticseizures.blogspot.com.

It began when a husband witnessed his wife, who had been severely sexually abused from 4 years old to 8 years old, have a grand mal seizure and stop breathing. He hought she was dying. The doctor in the ER said to his wife that she may just have panic attacks and that she needs to “separate what’s real from what isn’t.”  She had major brain scans and tests and was misdiagnosed with Epilepsy. After many months of searching they finally found the answer.  She was actually experiencing was called Nonepileptic Seizures. Her seizures are the direct result of her sexual abuse in childhood. She then remembered that she had seizures when she was abused as a child to protect herself from the pain.  And the evidence shows that abuse in childhood, especially sexual abuse, is the leading cause of NES.

And she is not alone. Up to half-million people in the US have NES and most (75% to 85%) are women who have a history of sexual abuse. That’s as many as have Multiple Sclerosis. And she, like so many others, has almost nowhere to turn for help. It is an extremely misdiagnosed condition. Everyday up to 30% of people who go to epilepsy centers are found to have Nonepileptic Seizures. They are then usually told to seek psychiatric treatment elsewhere. They are not given any advice on how to find help nor are they given any advice on what type of treatment method they should receive. They are often never even given a brochure on their condition. In short, they are shown the door.

Check them out.  I’m looking at  you, you know who you are, who keeps having these seizures.  Very interesting stuff when you see where it all comes from.

May you get better quickly.
