Safe Side Superchick

A Superhero for Kids, A Lifelong Mission

Not all superheroes wear capes. Some wear brightly colored shirts, jump around like a goofball, and teach kids how to stay safe, smart, and strong. That’s me. That’s Safe Side Superchick. I even won an Emmy for it and I still show up for kids at schools, birthday parties, events, and anywhere I’m needed.

If you need me – book a call with me! It’s not just a character—it’s a mission.

I had the honor of playing Safe Side Superchick in The Safe Side series, a groundbreaking, Emmy-winning program created by Julie Clark, who is also the brain behind Baby Einstein!

Safe Side teaches kids about personal safety in a way that’s fun, empowering, and unforgettable. The DVDs are still out there, the videos are free on YouTube, and many schools still show them from the past. And new schools begin showing them every year.

BRING ME TO YOUR TOWN!

I need to be there — because something powerful happens when I show up. Kids feel safe. And when kids feel safe, they talk.

Why Safe Side Matters More Than Ever

Wherever I go—whether it’s a school, a backyard barbecue, a college campus, or a conference—kids (and adults) always disclose their traumas, abuse, and secrets around me. Not always in the moment, but sometimes days later, because something about Safe Side Superchick sticks with them.

And that’s the whole point.

I don’t just teach kids about safety. I become a safe place.

And when you create a safe space for kids, they find the courage to speak up. This is true for adults too and is one of the reasons we created The Sacred Circus.

This isn’t just a show to me or a character I play. This is ME. I booked that role because John Papsidera, the casting director for Yellowstone, The Dark Knight etc) called me at home while I was editing my documentary and said, "I have a role that IS YOU. This is you. Just go in and introuduce yourself. It's you or Lisa Kudrow and we all know it's you."

Being a Superhero for children, and the inner children for adults, is a lifelong commitment to helping kids stay safe and giving them the tools to tell someone when they’re not.

The Story That Changed Everything for Me

When Safe Side Superchick first came out, I got recognized a lot—especially in airports and grocery stores. And I still do, especially where schools are actively showing it.

But one moment stands out.

I was at a restaurant when an 8-year-old girl spotted me. She came over to ask for my autograph and then, bold as Safe Sider herself, she asked me to be her Show-and-Tell Safe Side Superchick at school the next day. How could I say no?

I went to talk to her dad and get her school info. And here’s the crazy part— I never traveled with my Superchick shirt. But somehow, that day, the green one was in my luggage. Not a coincidence — an act of God.

(Also one of the seeds that later became the Sacred Circus Church.)

I had the shirt, and the next morning I showed up for her in full Superchick mode. She was thrilled. Her classmates were thrilled. It was an adorable day for an adorable girl.

Fast Forward Ten Years…

I get an email from that same girl asking if I remembered her. Of course I did!

She told me that, back when she met me in that restaurant, she was being molested by her father. She hadn’t told anyone. But seeing me—Safe Side Superchick, a real-life superhero safe person—gave her the inspiration she needed to survive.

She said I was her personal superhero who helped her get through the horror she was living in.

That email floored me and made me committed forever.

How You Can Help: Bring Me to Your Schools & Events

I will show up.

I will come to your school.
I will come to your community.

I will speak at your college, your conference, your church — and while I’m in town, let’s make sure I visit the elementary schools, too.

Because you never know which child (or INNER CHILD) needs a Safe Side Superchick moment. You never know which child is carrying a secret they’re too scared to tell — and yes, this includes adults.

You never know which child will remember a funny, crazy superhero and finally feel safe enough to speak up.

That’s why I do this. That’s why I need you to utilize these videos, show them in schools again, and invite me to be there in person.

This is not just a character — it’s my mission. And I’m showing up. Because you never know who’s watching.

If you do or do not have the means, or would like to DONATE a visit to a community — call me, we can work it out!
